An unusual early, warm and dry spring prompted very early bud break and provided a long growing season. A number of cold nights at the start of June caused reduced fructification and relatively loose clusters. The remaining summer months gave limited rainfall and favourable temperatures. The reduced fruit on each vine together with good and dry growth conditions yielded an early harvest with fruit of exceptional quality and ripeness.
